How to Clean Your Laptop?

Being organized benefits every aspect of your life. Nobody wants to walk into their bedroom and find clothes on the floor, rumpled bedsheets, and stray coffee mugs. Similarly, if your computer is disorganized or dirty, it can add to the amount of stress you have to deal with during the day.

Learning how to clean your laptop is a necessary skill that requires some finesse because you're dealing with delicate hardware that can easily be knocked out of place or broken. When cleaning the outside of your computer, keep in mind that you can also clean the inside of your laptop. Your virtual spaces should also be kept tidy and organized, especially if you're running low on disc space.

How can I clean up my laptop on the inside?

While you can't literally sweep the insides of your computer, you can take steps to free up space by uninstalling programmer you no longer use and compressing large files to take up less space on your hard drive.

Cleaning your hard drive:

If your laptop is running slower than usual, you should perform some troubleshooting. The first thing you should do is check how much free space you have on your hard drive. To do so on a Windows operating system, go to the start menu and select the "This PC" application.

Navigate to the silver box labelled (C:), which is your hard drive storage and will show you how much space is occupied versus how much is available. When you want to clean your hard drive, simply go to Disc Cleanup. You can use this application to delete temporary files as well as files and programmer that you no longer need. You can also simply compress files to save space without deleting applications.

Then you can decide whether you want to permanently delete those files or not.

One thing to keep in mind when deleting items is that sending installed programmer to the recycling bin will uninstall them from your computer and require you to reinstall them if you change your mind.

How to clean a laptop fan?

• As you work, a dusty fan can make some seriously distracting noise pollution. If you're willing to take matters into your own hands, you have a few options for properly cleaning the fan.
• The simplest way to clean your fan is to blow dust out of its crevices with a can of compressed air. You can clean your fan without compressed air if you don't have any on hand.

The steps are as follows:

1. Turn off your device and unplug it from the wall.
2. Remove the bottom panel of your laptop, which will usually require a screwdriver. 

3. If you're not sure what you'll need to remove your bottom panel, consult your laptop's manual or            look for a copy online.
4. Hold the fan down with one finger to keep it from turning while you clean it. Remove the fan from        your laptop in its entirety because it has many complicated parts that can be difficult to reassemble.
5. Wipe the fan down with a cloth, being careful to always use the clean edge of the cloth to avoid              sending large clumps of dust into the fan.
6. Wipe down all of the vents on the laptop's inside and outside.
7. Blow gently into the fan to encourage any remaining dust particles to escape.

How can I clean my laptop on the outside?

To clean the outside of your device properly, make sure you only use cleaning products designed for delicate hardware. If you're unsure about what's safe for your product, consult the manual for your specific device.

How to clean your computer's display?

• When you're trying to watch a movie, play a game, or send emails, a dirty computer screen can be a major distraction. The problem with cleaning your screen with regular household cleaner is that you're working with a delicate, fragile material. Some cleaners, for example, may be too harsh for your display and will damage it. One important thing to remember when cleaning your laptop is to avoid spraying liquid cleaner on it. You don't want spray cleaners dripping into your laptop to damage your internal hardware. 
• If you don't have an LCD screen, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove stubborn dirt or stains - but only enough to remove a small amount of dirt. However, if you have an LCD screen, avoid using rubbing alcohol because it will damage it. Of course, if in doubt, err on the side of caution and avoid rubbing alcohol entirely.

Follow the steps below to clean your laptop screen:

1.  First, get a microfiber towel and a computer-safe cleaning product.
2.  Prepare your cleaning solution for your microfiber cloth. Remember to avoid directly applying the         cleaning solution to your screen.
3.  A small amount of cleaning product should be sprayed onto the cloth.
4.  Wipe the display gently in circular motions, beginning in the Centre of your monitor.
5.  Continue wiping the screen until the entire surface is free of any remaining dirt or dust.

How to clean your computer's keyboard?

Your laptop keyboard is easily contaminated. Every day, you use your keyboard, sometimes with soiled hands. As a result of its frequent use, it collects germs, oils, dirt, pet hair, food, and dead skin cells. Yuck! Here are the steps to cleaning your laptop keyboard properly.

• Turn off your laptop and disconnect it from all power sources.
• Turn your laptop upside down and tap it gently to remove any dust or debris. You might want to put a paper towel underneath it to catch anything that falls out and make cleanup easier.
• Clear and clean the spaces between the keys with a can of compressed air. This is easier if you tilt the keyboard to one side and use short, sweeping motions to remove all the dust. Remember to use the straw that comes with most compressed air cans to direct a concentrated stream of air where it needs to go.
• Wipe the keys down with a damp microfiber cloth. Make sure it's not too wet because you don't want liquid dripping into your PC's internals.
• To kill any germs, you should follow the previous step by wiping down the keys with a sanitizing wipe.

Note: On some laptop models, you may be able to remove the keys to clean beneath each of them more thoroughly. However, you should do some research on your specific model before proceeding. It's also a good idea to take a picture of your key orientation before you begin removing it. You may believe you will remember the order, but once you begin removing them, it is easy to become confused.

How frequently should I clean my computer?

Make a habit of checking how much space is left on your hard drive on a monthly basis to ensure your PC is running at peak performance. It's also a good idea to enable automatic updates, which will help your system run smoothly.

FREQUENCY OF EXTERNAL CLEANING

Follow a proper maintenance and cleaning schedule every three to six months to keep your computer sanitary and free of germs. If you notice a lot of dust after cleaning, you should increase the frequency to reduce dust and debris buildup.
